I want to share with you the steps I took to solve an OSINT Quiz. The Quiz that I’ll talk about it’s the following:

After participating in some quizzes and starting to get a grip on some of them, I thought, ah, OSINT Dojo posts a beginner friendly quiz. A quiz I will solve easily before I move on with what I was doing, but the road should be longer than I thought. I started as I always do trying to find some uniqueness that I can pivot from. After an hour of scrolling through reverse image searches on google and yandex, I was pretty frustrated and I was about to give up.
After a hint from Osint Dojo about searching for capital letters in the quiz, I came across Shodan and previous quziers I had tried on the subject. I tried a few times before I found the right search string. I´ll get to that, but first I want to tell my discovery along the way. I am not experienced on Shodan so there were some attempts on the road. Along the way, I discovered an explanation of “search query fundementals” that I intend to delve deeper into to learn more about search strings. After all, that’s what I do for a living. Hacking hiring with search strings is my profession. The link to Shodans “search query fundementals” can be found here; https://help.shodan.io/the-basics/search-query-fundamentals.
After getting “no search found” in response several times and the frustration was increasing;

I Finally came up with an earlier quiz explanations in Osint dojo´s February theme which was about Shodan search. I looked at previous assignments where I had noted how others had solved the assignment and noted their search string and voila :) From there it was very simple as the dojo master had mentioned in the introduction.

Yes, What a feeling! :)

With the right search string I easily found the solution to questions 2 and 3
The IP address of the IP webcam which took this photo was 86.155.134.44
The port that was currently open on that webcam was 8080.
Then there was only one question left. The latitude and longitude. Since I knew we were in Eastbourne, UK, I switched to google maps.

It was easy to recognize the marina, so I narrowed down the map until I was in a familiar position

Google maps showed that lat/long of the photographed area were 50.79289860147928, 0.3283669996570495.
